It has been said that volunteers are unpaid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless — Jane Pence is one of those volunteers.

A career computer programmer, Jane now lends her considerable talents and time to Literacy Volunteers of Tucson (LVT). Since 2006, Jane has donated more than 350 hours working in the LVT Library. Jane makes sure volunteers have the appropriate books to teach adult students to read, keeps the LVT library well organized, and has been instrumental in setting up the library database.

Jane personally entered each book into the computer so the LVT would have easy reference records to track the books and reference materials which resulted in significant financial savings for the organization.
